2013 Week 14 – Fusion – Korean Fish and Chips

East meets West?  Haha, I’m not sure if that’s the correct saying for this situation.  As the title states, I decided to fuse a classic British dish with some Korean flavors.

I got some cod that I battered with a pajeon mix, then egg, and finally some panko crumbs.

The chips were sliced up Korean yams that I fried and then coated lightly some some brown sugar and honey mix.  Then topped with some toasted sesame seeds.

Then I got some pickled cucumbers for another side, and some toasted seaweed for a garnish (and a tasty snack for later).

Now I would have gotten some newspaper to plate this all on, but I forgot to get some at the store so I settled for a plain plate.  Also, not pictured is the little bowl of dipping sauce I made for the fish.  Mainly rice wine vinegar with some soy sauce and gochujang mixed in.
